Red Bull Up The Mast, the unique event designed to test competitors’ speed, skill and sheer determination, is coming to Liverpool on the bank holiday weekend.
On May 25th 2026, 200 brave participants will take on the mast in a battle to be crowned the Red Bull Up The Mast Liverpool Champion.
Students from Liverpool universities and the local community are invited to take part in this all-out sprint up a greased mast in a dash for glory.
Taking place between 12 pm and 3 pm, the event will see competitors test their speed and balance as they attempt to grab the flag at the end of the greased mast situated in Salthouse Dock.
The challenge is open to all participants over the age of 18 and offers a unique spectacle for those visiting the waterfront during the holiday period.
A Test of Speed and Balance
The format for the competition is straightforward: successfully grab the flag and you’re through to the next round, fail to grab the flag and you’re out.
The fastest individual to grab the flag in the final round will be declared the ultimate winner and hero of Liverpool for the day.
This high-energy event is designed to push participants to their limits as they navigate the slippery surface suspended over the water.
While the competition itself will be fierce, the atmosphere on the docks will be geared towards celebration.
The event is free to spectate, and those attending can enjoy entertainment and live music throughout the afternoon.
It provides an opportunity for the local community and visitors to witness a one-of-a-kind sporting challenge in the heart of the city’s historic docklands.
