Pringles has announced the opening of the first of its kind ‘Talk-Thru’ cinemas in partnership with Movember.
Celebrating the fourth year of bringing together two iconic moustaches, the Talk-Thru cinema is unlike any other typical cinema night, and is designed to get men talking. The events will welcome guests to bring along a friend for a catch up against the backdrop of the comedy, Hot Fuzz, all while enjoying some Pringles.
In collaboration with leading men’s health charity Movember, the ‘Talk-Thru’ cinema will premiere for one night only at Liverpool’s Picturehouse @FACT on Tuesday 26th September. A virtual introduction from rugby legends Mike Tindall and James Haskell will set the scene for the screening of Hot Fuzz and with the help of Movember’s conversation tools, will encourage men to share some Pringles and open up.
This comes as new research from Pringles looking into men’s friendships and wider mental health attitudes shows that men are willing to open up more but admit to only feeling comfortable to do so when in the right situation and even then, struggle to share their feelings with other men.
A third of men (31 per cent) in the UK admit to feeling lonely at least every week with over 2.8million1 feeling lonely every day. This is despite over half of men (51 per cent) believing they have enough friends. The research also revealed that activities are the building blocks for male friendships as four in 10 feel they need an activity in place in order to meet another male friend – with going to the cinema revealed as one of the preferred activities men do together.

Beth Johnson, senior brand activation manager at Pringles, commented:
“Encouraging conversations around mental health is more vital than ever before, but it is alarming that the latest statistics show that men are either too embarrassed to open up, they don’t feel they know how to or need an activity to do so. That’s why we’ve teamed up with Movember for the fourth year, to join two iconic moustaches together and tackle the stigma that prevents men from chatting to their friends on a deeper level.
“The ‘Talk-Thru’ cinema is just one way to create a relaxed and safe environment for men to catch up with their friends – all whilst learning some useful tips from Movember’s ambassadors on how to do so. And, to also help those who are unable to attend our events, this year our Pringles cans will feature a bespoke QR code in the place of Mr P’s moustache, helping more people to access Movember’s conversations tools and resources.”
Anne-Cécile Berthier, Movember UK’s Country Director, said:
“As the leading charity aimed at changing the face of men’s mental health, Movember exists to help men live happier, healthier and longer lives. By teaming up with Pringles for another year on the latest Pringles packs and ‘Talk-Thru’ cinema, we hope to reach even more people and raise awareness of human mental health and the benefits of opening up with others.”
New Pringles packs, available in-store now, also feature a scannable moustache to help more people access Movember’s conversations tool and help equip Brits with the right resources to have meaningful conversations around mental health.
