Duke Street Food and Drink Market is now home to a new vendor, Kelp – a seafood and fish kitchen.

Kelp joins the five other kitchens Bone & Block, Indigo Greens, Cucina Di Vincenzo, Cahita and Ginger, replacing previous vendor Cinder.

Kelp – brought to the market by the same team behind Bone & Block which prides itself on high quality, locally sourced red meat – will serve up delicious dishes including two types of Colchester oysters – natural served with lemon and Tabasco sauce and crispy oysters with shaved fennel and apple salad, mussels with ciabatta, gambas pil pil, crispy fried fish, classic fish and chips, grilled hake and whole dover sole.

Taking over from Cinder, Kelp will add a fresh offering to the market and give guests that are visiting a wide variety of new dishes to try.

Just like Bone & Block, Kelp’s fish and seafood is locally sourced and of the highest quality to produce tasty and carefully crafted plates.

Matt Farrell, co-director of Duke Street Food and Drink Market, said: “We’re really excited that Kelp has opened in the market and is now available for guests to try. The new seafood and fish kitchen will provide a unique offering that hasn’t been previously available at the market including the natural and crispy oysters which are simply delicious.

“Refreshing this kitchen and bringing in Kelp has created excitement and intrigue for fish fans and we’re really proud to have the team on board.”

John Ennis, co-director of the market, added: “We’ve got a really wide and varied offering across the five other kitchens but felt that a high quality fish and seafood menu would complete the dishes available and ensure there’s something for everyone at the market.

“Kelp’s menu is really impressive and we’re looking forward to welcoming our guests to try the tasty and beautifully presented dishes.”

Harry Marquart, owner of Kelp and Bone & Block, added: “Creating a seafood and fish focussed kitchen has been fantastic and both myself and the team are really excited to be open at the market and providing the same high quality and beautifully executed dishes that Bone & Block is known for, but with a focus on excellent seafood. Jack Wanless and Dariusz Podsialdy have been with Bone and Block since the beginning, they are now part owners of KELP. They have a wealth of experience between them and without them it simply would not be possible.

“We hope Kelp will bring a new and exciting addition to Liverpool’s culinary scene with dishes such as our oysters that are handpicked and hand graded to ensure they’re in the best condition for our guests, to our classic and hearty fish and chips.”

Duke Street Food and Drink Market is open Wednesday – Sunday, from 12-10pm.
