Liverpool Women’s Hospital Charity is the headline charity partner for the BTR Women’s 10K Liverpool in September.
The announcement coincides with the 10-week countdown to race day, taking place in the city’s picturesque Sefton Park on Sunday 6 September 2026.
The event also features a 5K distance, ideal for runners signing up for their first race. The 5K race starts at 9.30 am, followed by the 10K at 10.30 am.
Entries are open here.
Liverpool Women’s Hospital is the UK’s largest specialist hospital dedicated to the health of women, babies, and families.
Every year it cares for thousands of women, babies, and families from across the North West and beyond. Charitable donations help fund innovations and compassionate care to support patient experience and outcomes.
Liverpool Women’s Hospital Charity supports the vital work of Liverpool Women’s Hospital.
The charity funds lifesaving and specialist medical equipment; research into women’s and babies’ health; enhanced facilities; and support services for families experiencing pregnancy complications, neonatal care, fertility treatment, gynaecological conditions, and pregnancy loss.
These additional services go above and beyond NHS provision, helping to ensure the care and experience for patients and their families.
History of the Sefton Park Event and Entry Goals

Race organisers, BTR Liverpool brought back the historically popular female-only 10K race in 2024.
Last year the 5K race was added to the event.
Sefton Park was the original home to the event when the race was at its peak in the 1980s and early 1990s.
BTR Liverpool is the leading organisation for creating, managing, and delivering headline running events across the Liverpool City Region.
More than 600 runners took part in 2025. Now BTR Liverpool are keen to build on its return and popularity – and smash the 1,000 entries barrier. At present, over 500 runners have already registered across the two race distances. All race finishers will receive a commemorative medal and T-shirt to celebrate their achievement.
By taking part in the Women’s 10K or 5K, supporters can choose to fundraise for any area of Liverpool Women’s Hospital.
So many people have their own reason to be thankful to the hospital, so this is a chance to give something back and support the area that means the most to them.
Runners can choose to fundraise when taking part in either race, or there is an option to make a one-off donation when entering the race.
A donation of £10 could help provide comfort packs for patients during their stay.
A donation of £20 could help fund specialist equipment to support the tiniest patients in the Neonatal unit.
A donation of £50 contributes towards creating more comfortable, welcoming environments for families during some of the most difficult times of their lives.
Organisers Praise Fundraising Impact

Loren Slade, Fundraising Manager at Liverpool Women’s Hospital Charity, said:
“We are incredibly proud to be named the headline charity partner for the BTR Women’s 10K and 5K Liverpool 2026.
“The event is the perfect fit for Liverpool Women’s Hospital Charity through our work supporting thousands of women, babies, and families across our region every year.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity for women to come together, support one another, and celebrate what can be achieved when we stand side by side.
“The support will make a real difference to the lives of those we care for every day.
“Funds raised will support vital initiatives, including neonatal equipment for poorly and premature babies; bereavement support for families; specialist maternity and gynaecology services; and enhanced patient wellbeing initiatives beyond NHS funding.
“We’ve worked with BTR Liverpool as a portfolio charity partner for a number of years now. The events help to raise awareness about what we do, we’d love to see our biggest ever turn-out of runners taking part for this very special event.”
The BTR Liverpool annual calendar of competitive races and fun runs take place between March and December.
The portfolio also includes Liverpool Half Marathon, Liverpool Santa Dash, Mersey Tunnel 10K, Port Sunlight Road Race, Wirral 10K, and Run For The 97.
Alan Rothwell, BTR Liverpool Founder, said:
“BTR Liverpool is delighted to welcome Liverpool Women’s Hospital Charity on-board as headline charity for the Women’s 10K and 5K Liverpool in September.
“Liverpool Women’s Hospital is firmly rooted in the city, and the majority of runners taking part on the day will most definitely know a family member or friend supported by the hospital or its charity.
“This is the third year the event has been back in the BTR event portfolio after an absence of over 20 years.
“We’ve already starting growing the event by adding the 5K distance last year, and by supporting LWHC through the 2026 race we will continue to attract new runners.”
In 2025, BTR Liverpool and its successful portfolio of events were acquired by Run For All.
Mass participation events company Run For All is wholly owned by the Jane Tomlinson Appeal, and continues to honour her ongoing legacy.
