Liverpool Schools Football Association (LSFA), in collaboration with Liverpool City Council, is very proud to announce a special month-long exhibition taking place throughout May, from Friday 1st May until Saturday 30th May 2026 at the iconic St George’s Hall.
This landmark exhibition will celebrate the rich history, enduring legacy, and exciting future of the LSFA, highlighting its unique place in the sporting heritage of Liverpool and its lasting contribution to the social fabric of the city.
Visitors will have the opportunity to explore decades of school football heritage, discover inspiring stories from past and present participants, and gain insight into how the organisation continues to shape young lives across the city.
A Cornerstone of Youth Sport
From humble beginnings in the 19th Century to becoming a cornerstone of youth sport in Liverpool, the LSFA has played a vital role in fostering talent, promoting inclusivity, and strengthening community ties.
The exhibition will showcase memorabilia, archival materials, and interactive displays that bring to life the impact of school football on generations of young people.
The event also aims to look forward, celebrating the future of the LSFA and its ongoing commitment to providing opportunities, nurturing potential, and supporting the wellbeing of young people and vital local initiatives through sport.
A Tribute to the Footballing Community
Andy Reidel, Chairman of the Liverpool Schools FA, said:
“School football has shaped generations of young people in this city, giving them confidence, discipline and a sense of belonging that lasts far beyond their time on the pitch.
“As we celebrate this remarkable legacy, it feels more important than ever to recognise the players, teachers and volunteers who built the foundations we stand on today.
“This event is not only a tribute to our past but a reminder of the power football has to unite communities and inspire futures.
“I want to thank everyone who has contributed to the LSFA over the decades, and I look forward to welcoming former players, families and supporters as we honour the history that continues to make Liverpool proud.”
Members of the public, schools, ex-players and staff, and football enthusiasts are all encouraged to attend and be part of this celebration of Liverpool’s proud sporting heritage.
The exhibition is open Monday to Saturday, 1st – 30th May, from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm.
