A family-run Liverpool opticians is giving one lucky winner the chance to receive a new pair of designer glasses every year for five years, in a competition worth up to £5,000.

Winstanley & Son, an independent eyewear practice based on Park Road in Dingle since 1998, has launched the giveaway as a way of competing with major national optical chains while giving something back to the community.

The competition will see one winner receive five pairs of designer glasses over five years, with each pair worth up to £1,000, including frames and prescription lenses.

Gavin Winstanley, owner of Winstanley & Son, believes the giveaway could be the biggest eyewear prize ever offered in Liverpool.

Gavin said:

“The big chains spend fortunes on advertising. We’re a small independent, and we’d rather put that money into something people in Liverpool can actually win.

“We believe this is the biggest prize ever given away for eyewear in Liverpool. One person is going to get a new pair of glasses from us every year for the next five years, with the frames and the prescription lenses included.”

The competition is completely free to enter and is open to UK residents aged 18 and over who are able to attend the Liverpool practice.

The winner will be selected during a live draw on the Winstanley & Son Facebook page on Tuesday 1 December 2026 at 7pm, with entries closing at 11.59pm on Monday 30 November.

Gavin added:

“It’s the perfect Christmas prize. Most presents are done by Boxing Day. This one comes back every year for five years.”

Bespoke eyewear from a Liverpool independent

Winstanley & Son has been serving the local community for nearly three decades, offering eye examinations, specialist varifocal fitting and bespoke eyewear.

Unlike many high street optical retailers, the independent practice produces bespoke frames in its own workshop above the shop.

The business also uses Visioffice technology, a digital measurement system that examines how a person’s eyes and chosen frames sit together, allowing varifocal lenses to be tailored to the individual.

Gavin said:

“We specialise in varifocals and bespoke frames, and we fit the best varifocal lenses available anywhere.

“Whoever wins isn’t just getting glasses off a shelf. They’re getting five years of us making sure the lenses, the frame and the fit are right for them.”

How to enter the £5,000 designer glasses giveaway

The competition launches across Winstanley & Son’s Facebook, Instagram and TikTok pages at 7pm on Sunday 18 October 2026.

To enter, participants must complete the entry form available on the practice’s Facebook page.

The prize includes:

• Five pairs of designer glasses over five years, worth up to £5,000 in total.
• One pair per year, with a maximum value of £1,000 per pair.
• Prescription lenses and frames included.
• Personal fitting at the Liverpool practice.

Entry is limited to one per person, and entrants must be UK residents aged 18 or over who can visit the practice in person.

Entries close at 11.59pm on Monday 30 November 2026, with the winner announced live on Facebook at 7pm on Tuesday 1 December.
