Liverpool ONE helps brighten Blue Monday

  • January 20, 2020
  • Editor

Hundreds of flowers filled Liverpool ONE this morning (Monday 20 January), to inject a spot of joy on Blue Monday.

Following the success of last year’s flower drop, Liverpool ONE has this time stepped up its efforts to bring a smile to visitors’ faces, offering a series of treats and one-off offers from many of its shops and restaurants.

From free pamper sessions to complimentary foodie treats, unsuspecting shoppers will have the chance to brighten their Blue Monday, the day which has been dubbed the most depressing of the year.

As part of its plan to inject cheer to the city, Liverpool ONE left hundreds of bunches of brightly coloured flowers across Upper and Lower South John Street; Peter’s Lane; and Paradise Street for lucky commuters to pick up on their way to work. The blooms were packaged into pairs, encouraging people to keep a bouquet for themselves and pass the other on to a friend, colleague or even a stranger to share the joy.

Donna Howitt, Marketing Director at Liverpool ONE, said: “Blue Monday is recognised as the gloomiest day of the year for many. Our flower drop has proven to put a smile on our visitors’ faces and creating a chain reaction of positivity across the city.

“This year, many of our shops and restaurants, jumped at the chance to offer all kinds of complimentary and discounted treats to make Blue Monday a little brighter for everyone!”

Among the activity taking place today is: free hand and arm massages from The Body Shop; free chocolate samples from Lindt; scratch card giveaways from John Lewis; complimentary bright lip makeover from Urban Decay at John Lewis; free coffee from Nespresso; a free large box at Wok & Go when bought with any large classic or vegan box; ‘hidden gift’ bags at Molton Brown; mini makeovers at Morphe; pastry sampling and free coffee at Arket; tote bag giveaways from Cass Art; £10 off bottles of prosecco at The Club House; and complimentary express manicures at Harvey Nichols’ Beauty Bazaar.

All offers are subject to availability. Full details are available from the Liverpool ONE website or by downloading their new MyONE App.

Donna added: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to those brands who’ve got on board with us this year and helped create a cheerier Blue Monday, and we’d encourage all those picking up a pair of bouquets to pass on the love to brighten their day.”
