Liverpool FC has unveiled a stunning new Champions League matchday programme cover designed by lifelong Reds supporter and artist Yoni Weisberg ahead of Tuesday night’s clash with Villarreal at Anfield.
The limited-edition artwork captures the magic of a European night in Liverpool, featuring supporters making their way through the streets surrounding Anfield beneath a dramatic autumn sunset.
Created exclusively for the official matchday programme, the illustration is the latest instalment in Liverpool FC’s artist-edition series, which celebrates local creativity and gives fans the chance to collect unique artwork throughout the Champions League campaign.
Following the opening design by Abigail Rudkin, Weisberg has brought his own personal connection to the club to the project, drawing inspiration from decades of attending matches at Anfield.
A lifelong Liverpool fan’s dream come true
An illustrator, designer and director, Weisberg has built a portfolio of Liverpool FC-inspired artwork, combining his creative talents with his passion for the Reds.
Having attended his first match at Anfield during the club’s historic treble-winning 2000/01 season, he has remained a regular matchgoer and understands the special atmosphere surrounding European fixtures.
His latest design reflects those experiences, capturing the anticipation of supporters approaching the stadium as the evening sky glows above the surrounding streets.
Weisberg said:
“When I received the email asking me to create a Champions League programme cover, I genuinely had to read it several times. Designing a matchday programme cover has always been a dream of mine, so seeing that become a reality is something I’ll always treasure.
“I’ve supported Liverpool my whole life and some of my favourite memories are from walking the streets around Anfield before a game, taking in the artwork, the atmosphere and the anticipation as kick-off gets closer. That’s the feeling I wanted to capture with this piece.
“With the evenings drawing in and autumn setting in, I was inspired by the drama of the sun setting over Anfield ahead of a big European night. Bringing those elements together felt like the perfect way to celebrate the occasion and my connection to the club.”
