A new official Liverpool FC book celebrating the 100 greatest men’s players in the club’s history has been released.
Liverpool’s Greatest: A Celebration of 100 Reds Stars follows a huge poll which saw around 1.4 million selections made to determine the finest players ever to represent the Reds.
Supporters, former Liverpool players, journalists and an LFC panel all took part, judging players on their ability, impact, legacy and success during their careers at Anfield.
The votes were then combined with statistics for each player to produce the final ranking of Liverpool’s top 100.
The new hardback book counts down the full list and features biographies of every player selected, alongside bespoke artwork and photography.
Written by Liverpool FC journalists Glenn Price and Chris Shaw, it also includes exclusive interviews and reaction from the player who claimed the number one spot.
The book spans the entire history of the club, from players who represented Liverpool during its earliest years in the 1890s through to the stars who have helped create a new generation of memories at Anfield.
Chris Shaw said:
“With a whole generation of new heroes having created fresh history while representing the Reds, the time felt ripe and right for this.
“Part of the accompanying joy of football is the debate, the amicable arguments over a pint on a matchday, the changes of opinion as players come and go.
“Conduct the same poll a year from now and the results may well look different. Conduct it in 50 years’ time and who knows?
“But it is a homage to 100 of the best to have worn the Liver bird, from unbeatable goalkeepers to supreme scorers, Scouse talismans to Scottish icons, those who were there when it all began in the 1890s to those blazing trails in the modern day.
“They gave us some of the greatest days of our lives and this is their story.”
Liverpool’s Greatest: A Celebration of 100 Reds Stars is available to order now exclusively through Liverpool FC stores and the club’s online store in the UK, with international availability set to follow.
