Liverpool supporters are being invited to swap their beds for sleeping bags as the LFC Foundation’s annual Kip on the Kop sleepout returns to Anfield.
The event, which raises awareness and vital funds for people experiencing homelessness across the Liverpool City Region, will take place on Saturday 26 September.
Now in its fourth year, Kip on the Kop gives participants the rare opportunity to spend a night sleeping in the famous Kop stand, with LFC fan and comedian John Bishop once again joining the event.
Although one night at Anfield cannot replicate the reality of homelessness, organisers hope the experience will encourage participants to reflect on the challenges faced by people without a safe and secure place to call home.
It also aims to build a greater understanding of the issues affecting individuals and families across the region.
More than 400 supporters took part in last year’s sleepout, raising an impressive £119,575 for the LFC Foundation and Liverpool Homeless FC.
John Bishop, an ambassador for Liverpool Homeless FC, was joined at the event by former Liverpool player and coach Sammy Lee, LFC Foundation community ambassador Chris Kirkland, and actor and comedian Crissy Rock.
Speaking about Kip on the Kop, John Bishop said:
“Kip on the Kop is a really special event because it brings so many people together for such an important cause. Spending one night on the Kop doesn’t compare to the reality that many people face, but it does make you stop and think.
“Homelessness is not just rough sleeping; it is not having a place to call home and moving between hostels. That is something too many people – including children – experience in our city. By joining us in Kip on the Kop, you are taking a step to end that once and for all.
“The support last year was incredible, and hopefully even more Reds will sign up for this September so we can raise even more money for two organisations doing fantastic work across our communities”

Money raised from this year’s Kip on the Kop will support the LFC Foundation’s Pathway to Works programme, which provides sport-based employability sessions and mentoring for young people who have experienced homelessness.
Funds will also help Liverpool Homeless FC continue delivering its outreach, wellbeing and support services across the city region.
