Liverpool has once again become the backdrop for a major Hollywood production, with filming currently taking place in the heart of the city.
Props and set pieces have been spotted at the former Merseyside Police HQ and around Liverpool Crown Court, which has been transformed into Gotham City for the shoot.

The Queen Elizabeth II Law Courts in Derby Square were dressed with Gotham-themed vehicles, including police cars, an ambulance, and a Gotham Broadcasting Channel news van, sparking excitement among passers-by. Filming is expected to continue in the area over the coming days.
The production is believed to be Clayface, a new DC Universe film centred on the iconic Batman villain. According to reports, the movie will not be part of the same cinematic universe as Robert Pattinson’s The Batman.

Clayface is tipped for release in September next year, with Deadline confirming Tom Rhys Harris will take on the title role in what is described as a horror-thriller adaptation.
Liverpool is no stranger to Gotham. In 2020, Matt Reeves’ The Batman filmed extensively across the city, with key scenes shot at St George’s Hall, Anfield Cemetery, and the Royal Liver Building. At the time, Reeves revealed that around 75% of the production would be filmed in Liverpool.
