Residents, businesses and road users are being invited to share their views on a £5 million scheme to transform the area surrounding Liverpool Football Club’s Anfield Stadium.
The proposed improvements form part of the wider Anfield Spatial Regeneration Framework (SRF), and aim to deliver a greener, safer and more inclusive high street. The scheme will also support matchday operations and align with other ongoing projects in the area.
The plans cover Walton Breck Road, Oakfield Road, Pulford Street, Back Rockfield Road and Gilman Street, with a focus on enhancing the look, safety and accessibility of the area.
Key features of the proposed scheme include:
- Improved public realm and better pedestrian links
- New soft landscaping and tree planting (excluding Pulford Street and Back Rockfield Road)
- Upgraded footways and paving using high-quality materials
- Resurfaced carriageways and improved drainage
- Modernised street lighting
- A new mini-roundabout at the junction of Walton Breck Road and Oakfield Road
- Narrower road widths and reduced speed limits to calm traffic
- Reconfigured on-street parking and relocated pedestrian crossings
These plans form part of a wider £250 million investment in the Anfield community, which has already delivered over 600 new homes and upgrades to the stadium.
Local residents, commuters and stakeholders are encouraged to complete the online survey to have their say.
Alternatively, you can attend a drop-in event at The Liverpool Lighthouse, Oakfield Road, L4 0UF, on Wednesday 13 August, from 10am to 5pm.
The consultation will showcase detailed design proposals, visualisations, construction timelines and a summary of the anticipated benefits. All feedback will help shape the final Stage 2 Detailed Design before works commence.
All responses will be reviewed by Liverpool City Council and its design consultant, Aecom.
Feedback will be anonymised and included in an Engagement Strategy Report. No personal data will be retained beyond 12 months after the consultation closes on Friday 22 August 2025.
