A weekly programme of free family-friendly events will take place across Liverpool city centre throughout August.
Celebrating Summer will bring activities including pirate-themed entertainment, circus workshops, crafts, chess and live music to locations between the Pier Head and Williamson Square every Thursday.
Thursday 6th August at the Pier Head – 12 noon – 3 pm
The programme begins at the Pier Head from noon until 3pm on Thursday, August 6, when the Super Pirates will host an afternoon of interactive play and theatre for children and adults who do not want to grow up.
Visitors will also be able to challenge friends and family to a game of chess during free drop-in sessions provided by Chess in Schools and Communities.
Thursday 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th at St Johns Shopping Centre – 12 noon – 3 pm
Free craft workshops will take place at St Johns Shopping Centre from noon until 3pm every Thursday during August.
Each week, families can try a different activity, including decorating pencil cases, painting paper fans, block-printing tote bags and personalising notebooks.
The drop-in workshops will be led by Hannah and held in the shopping centre’s food hall on August 6, 13, 20 and 27.
Thursday 13th, 20th, 27th August at the Pier Head – 12 noon – 3 pm
Circus skills workshops will then take over the grass near the Sir Alfred Lewis Monument at the Pier Head from noon until 3pm on August 13, 20 and 27.
People of all ages can try plate spinning, ribbon twirling, juggling, aerial skills and more, with further drop-in chess sessions also taking place.
Thursday 13th and 27th August at Williamson Square – 5-7pm
The Royal Court Community Choir will perform in Williamson Square between 5pm and 7pm on Thursday, August 13 and Thursday, August 27.
The inclusive choir is open to everyone and ordinarily meets for a sing-song at Liverpool’s Royal Court every Monday evening.
All Celebrating Summer activities are free and visitors can drop in without booking.
