Centenary Theatre Company, one of the oldest amateur theatre groups in the UK, established in 1901, is set to achieve a major milestone this May.
The group has become the first amateur company in the North West to secure the performance licence for the global stage hit Disney’s Frozen The Musical.
The landmark production will run for five nights at The Brindley in Runcorn from 12 to 16 May 2026.
Interest in the show has been significant, with the director noting that Saturday performances have almost sold out and Friday evening is filling rapidly.
The company aims to demonstrate that audiences do not need to travel to major cities to experience musical theatre of a world-class standard.
Leading the cast are Lydia Foxley as Elsa and Kirstin Dunn as Anna, who both balance their theatrical passions with their daily careers as a dog handler in Birkenhead and an administrator in Warrington.
Both performers have extensive experience with Centenary and describe the opportunity to portray the sisters of Arendelle as a unique experience.
Regarding the production, Lydia Foxley and Kirstin Dunn said:
“Elsa and Anna are just brilliant roles to play.
“The music, the story, the sister relationship.
“We’re having so much fun bringing this to life, and we can’t wait for people to see it”
Kirstin Dunn added:
“For me, this has been extra special as it’s the first time I’ve been in a show with my family”
Lydia Foxley said:
“It has been a truly magical experience.”
A Production of Unprecedented Scale

Dan Grimes, who serves as the director of the show and chair of the charity theatre company, stated that the public response has been beyond expectation.
He noted that the production is one of the fastest-selling in the history of the group and praised the cast for months of dedicated preparation.
He remarked that the show is looking fantastic, and it would be a shame for audiences to miss it.
The scale of the project is one of the largest the company has ever undertaken, with over 90 individuals involved, including the child cast performers and technical crew.
Participants have travelled from across Cheshire to be part of the milestone event.
Bringing Arendelle to Life

To recreate the frozen world of Arendelle on The Brindley stage while remaining faithful to the original film, the production will utilise modern technology.
This includes the use of digital screens, atmospheric ice blasts and various other special effects designed to immerse the audience in the story.
Tickets for the production are currently available through the Quay Tickets website.
With multiple performances already reaching capacity, those interested in attending are encouraged to secure their seats ahead of the May opening.
