Bruce Grobbelaar and Neville Southall, two legendary goalkeepers, will come together for a huge charity event. The former players of Everton and Liverpool are hosting a nostalgic evening at Onyx in Heswall On Saturday, May 11, to support Charlottes Brightside, a local charity.

The audience will embark on a nostalgic journey with the heroic shot-stoppers as they offer captivating insights into their remarkable careers and the challenges and victories they encountered on and off the pitch. With Graeme White, the Everton stadium announcer, hosting and lots of question time, it should be an exciting night for both Reds and Blues fans.

At Heswall’s elegant venue, Onyx, there will also be top live entertainment, a DJ until late, and a sizable raffle and auction where attendees can win sporting goods and prizes. The excellent work of Charlottes Brightside, a New Brighton-based charity that does significant work to bridge gaps in society, will receive donations of money raised from the event.

The junior football team that promotes social values, New Brighton Victoria FC, is in charge of organising it. The youth football team was established in May 2023 with the goal of teaching social values to young people. The team raises a lot of money for charitable causes through football competitions like the large Under 7s charity tournament at Bidston on Sunday, March 24.

New Brighton Victoria’s Chairman Chris Guy said:

“It’s a pleasure to be hosting this amazing night with two footballing legends at such a great venue! It will be an enthralling night and I’m looking forward to some engrossing tales from both Bruce and Neville. There will be some top live entertainment on offer, as well as some great prizes to be won — it’s a must for football fans!”

He continued:

“This type of thing is exactly what New Brighton Victoria FC is about — more than just a football club, with a big emphasis on community. Our last event with Everton legend Peter Reid raised over £3,000 for a local family and this time we’re raising money for Charlotte’s Brightside — a wonderful grassroots organisation based in New Brighton.”

The charity Charlotte’s Brightside was established in remembrance of Charlotte Churchill, who passed away tragically in a vehicle accident. It fills many social gaps. Through a variety of programmes, including a social supermarket, support groups, after-school clubs, and community events and activities, its goal is to address issues of mental health, poverty, and loneliness.

Chris summarised:

“Whether you’re a Liverpool fan, and Everton fan or just a football fan in general, come along for this special night of football nostalgia. Not only will it be a fantastic evening, we’ll be raising vital funds for a wonderful charity who do great work in the community.”

You can book your tickets for the event here.

You can register your child with NBVFC or to sponsor the team by calling Chris on 07368947749 or for more information visit the New Brighton Victoria Football Club website.
