Brand-new bar Hummingbird to open in Liverpool

This September North John Street in Liverpool is set to be home to brand-new bar Hummingbird.

The venue will be one of Liverpool’s most decadent bars, taking inspiration from the art deco era, offering a beautiful space to escape the everyday and to enjoy hand-crafted cocktails and tasty bar snacks.

Hummingbird is owned and operated by Phil Haughton who also owns McGuffie & Co on Castle Street. The bar has been over a year in the planning and with Covid restrictions now lifted, Phil and his team cannot wait to get open;

“Hummingbird is something that I’ve wanted to do for a long time now and things were just coming together when Covid-19 hit, which obviously put a massive spanner in the works for everyone.

As hard as it was, lockdown gave us the opportunity to take a step back and reassess how a bar will need to operate moving forward and we were able to put some positive changes in place. I’m really excited about the future now and feel that now is a great time to open. I think people have really missed being able to socialise and we want to offer our guests the perfect place to get together, forget all their worries and just relax with great drinks and great company.”

Based in the heart of the commercial district, every detail of the bar has been designed and considered to offer guests an intimate and authentic experience. By day, the bar will be a sanctuary for those looking to relax and get away from it all. By night, the bar will have a cool cocktail lounge feel and evoke the spirit of the roaring 20’s. Guests can explore an eclectic drinks menu of wines, Champagnes, beers and spirits as well as a cocktail menu of classics and some unique Hummingbird twists.

Sam Hudson, who has been running the bar at McGuffie’s for the past 5 years, will be heading the new team up at Hummingbird and is excited to bring something new to the city.

With live music at weekends in the form of DJ’s and live acts playing upbeat vintage tunes there is no doubt that Hummingbird will be a great addition to the exciting bar scene in Liverpool. Hummingbird will be open from Monday 27th September.
