Blackstock Market launches spectacular new Roof Garden

This weekend, Blackstock Market, Liverpool’s award-winning venue, will unveil a spectacular new roof garden at a special launch event.

Blackstock Roof Garden is Mediterranean-themed and will be one of the largest roof terraces in Liverpool; it has been designed to seat 220 people and has its own fully licensed bar area.

It will open its doors to the public on Saturday, 12 April and will be officially launched on 13 April, with visitors and VIP guests being promised live music, DJs and unforgettable entertainment alongside a taste of the garden’s food and drink offer.

The new Roof Garden marks another exciting step in Blackstock Market’s rapid expansion, cementing its reputation as one of the UK’s most ambitious and dynamic independent venues. With visitor numbers soaring and new attractions being added across the site, Blackstock is fast becoming a cultural and social hub for the North West.

In addition to its own bespoke outdoor bar, offering a wide range of beers, wines, cocktails, spirits and mixers, Roof Garden revellers will also be able to choose from an unrivalled selection of amazing culinary treats from Blackstock Food Market’s street food traders.

The new space will be open several days each week all year round, with indoor areas along with outdoor heaters for the cooler months, and will host weekly events as well as DJs and entertainment each weekend.

It will also be available for hire for private and corporate events, parties, celebrations and wedding receptions, and is fully wheelchair accessible.

Blackstock Market is the brainchild of Hot Water Comedy founders Paul and Binty Blair and first opened its doors in April 2024. Over the last 12 months it has attracted more than 300,000 visitors.

Spanning 60,000sq ft, the site in Blackstock Street is the home of Hot Water and houses a total of four theatre spaces of varying sizes, including a purpose built, state of the art 589-seat auditorium – the largest regular comedy club space in the world. Together they can accommodate around 1,000 people each night.

The Blackstock Market site also boasts a stunning private function space, Lily’s Lounge, the intimate Prohibition-inspired Whisky & Water bar featuring more than 400 Scotch and world whiskies, and a large mezzanine area with its own fully licensed bar. There are also eight podcast studios.

Meanwhile its hugely popular Food Market features nine brilliant outlets offering a delicious range of street food. Named Merseyside’s Best Regional Food Market by LUXLife Magazine, vendors on site include Burgerism, Pattersons, Laros, Todo Tacos, North Garden, Desserts by Dre, 51 Authentic Italian Street Food, Forked Up and So Salsa.

Blackstock Market is open from Wednesday to Sunday with no need to book to access the main market areas and most attractions, and free live music on site daily.

With various spaces available for hire, and with high-speed Wi-Fi throughout the site, the venue offers a backdrop for an array of occasions, from weddings and corporate events to art exhibitions and music festivals, ensuring an unforgettable experience for any gathering.

It is also dog-friendly and continues to provide free on-street parking.

Paul Blair says:

“This is something we’ve wanted since day one – a proper outdoor space that brings something totally new to the city.

“We’ve created one of the most impressive rooftop spaces in the country, and we haven’t cut corners. It’s full-on Mediterranean vibes, right in the heart of Liverpool, and it’s an absolute suntrap. We’ve got some amazing live entertainment lined up too. We can’t wait to share it.

“We’ve also made sure Blackstock Roof Garden is fully wheelchair accessible with lift access straight to the top; it was really important to us that everyone can enjoy the space. The launch weekend across 12-13 April is going to be unreal – we’ve got a jampacked line-up of local musicians, DJs and live acts all weekend, with a proper Mediterranean twist.

“It’s a celebration of everything Liverpool is about – music, energy and community, with a bit of sunshine and style thrown in.”

Binty Blair, Co-Founder of Hot Water Comedy and Blackstock Market, says:

“This isn’t just another rooftop – it’s the next phase of Blackstock’s evolution. We’re creating a year-round destination where people can eat, drink, dance and make memories.”

Marketing Manager Sophie Townley adds:

“Our rooftop is designed for escapism. Whether it’s brunch with a view, a sun-soaked disco or sunset cocktails, it’s a space that brings the energy of Blackstock into the open air.”
