Audiences across the UK will soon be able to experience Baby Brother, the acclaimed debut feature from Liverpool-born writer-director Michael J. Long, as it premieres on Google Play and YouTube Movies & TV from 12th September 2025.
Following a celebrated run on the international festival circuit, the film arrives with a reputation for emotional storytelling, gripping performances, and a powerful exploration of family, trauma, and redemption.

At the heart of the story are estranged siblings forced back together after years apart. The return of Adam (played by Paddy Rowan) sparks long-suppressed tensions and painful truths. The drama explores themes of identity, forgiveness, and the roles we inherit—or choose to leave behind.
Liverpool actor Paddy Rowan, known for Little Boy Blue, Unforgivable, and G’wed, leads the cast alongside Brian Comer. Critics have already described their performances as “riveting,” “authentic,” and “emotionally raw.” The Hollywood Reporter praised the film’s “superb performances and audacious style.”
Michael Long says:
“I wanted to create an immersive experience that reflects the reality of those whose pain is rooted in the very home they grew up in. says Long.
The film asks a fundamental question: Do we control the person we become?”

Filmed over just 11 days on a micro-budget with a local Liverpool crew, Baby Brother had its world premiere at the Oldenburg International Film Festival, where it won the Hans Ohlms Award for Best Debut Film. It was also an official selection at the British Urban Film Festival, further cementing its place as one of the most exciting UK indie debuts of the year.
For Michael J. Long, the project is a deeply personal film, balancing heartbreak with hope while showcasing the resilience and talent of Liverpool’s filmmaking community.
With its authentic performances and timely themes, Baby Brother is set to become a must-watch drama for audiences who crave grounded, character-driven storytelling.
