A ‘food, drink and little luxuries’ festival is coming to the picturesque village of Port Sunlight for its first ever autumn edition, bringing together over 30 of some of Wirral and Merseyside’s best local makers.

Presented by Port Sunlight Village Trust and award-winning Wirral chocolatier The Chocolate Cellar, the Sugar & Spice Festival will be open to explore on Saturday 5 October, 11am–4pm. It will take over the beautiful Diamond landscaped park opposite Port Sunlight Museum.

The festival will be completely free to enter and include over 30 stalls where visitors can explore and enjoy a range of flavours from around the world. From indulgent chocolate and homemade honey to jambalaya and Lebanese breads, the festival will offer something to suit all taste buds and give visitors the chance to discover something new.

Some of the sugary and spicy highlights include the flavours of Namak Kitchen, Seafood Shack, Fuego and crepes from Taste of Europe. Visitors will also enjoy a selection of little luxuries on offer from local makers and creators such as illustrations from The Print Maker, Bee Kind Reimagined’s eco-friendly products and a taste of nature from Foragers Fancy.

In addition to the makers, visitors can enjoy family-friendly entertainment including performances from the Wirral Poetry Festival, dances by Havana Nights and storytelling hosted by Bear Hunt Books.

Also running on the day will be a brand autumn-themed family trail, where families will be able to explore the village to find hidden clues and claim an autumnal prize. Tickets are £5 each. Pre-booking is essential for the autumn trail and numbers are limited, so families are encouraged to book early to avoid disappointment. Tickets can be purchased here.

Charlene Davies, Learning and Audience Development Manager at Port Sunlight Village Trust, said:

“There’s nowhere quite like Port Sunlight in the autumn, so it will be a perfect time to present an autumn edition of our Sugar & Spice Festival, following its successful first ever iteration at Easter. We’ve got double the number of stalls this time, and there will be a fun autumn-themed trail around the village for families to enjoy, so come and join us. There will truly be something for everyone.”

Bala Croman, owner of The Chocolate Cellar, said:

“It’s fantastic that this festival is taking place again. Port Sunlight has proven to be an amazing setting for bringing together fabulous food, drink and little luxuries. As a local maker it’s brilliant to see so many small local talented makers and producers in this beautiful place. I’m looking forward to this magical day that will kick start autumn festivities for all. It’s great to work with the Port Sunlight Team to make this possible.”
