Faces behind the Business – Lee Morris - Well Liverpool
When did you first get into the industry?

I’d never actually ever intended to be in the food industry, but it was in 2017 after a few years of calorie counting with my PT Joe, that my girlfriend Miah, who was already qualified chef got the idea to start making healthy calorie counted meals for ourselves. This became Macro Balance, which is our meal prep company we’ve had ever since.

How long have you worked at Well Liverpooland what is your job role?

Me and Miah still do all the cooking, and Well itself opened its doors in March 2021, which was a task as it was still lockdown at the time. Myself and Miah who own Macro Balance, came together with Joe who owns The Lab Liverpool gym and we made a third business we based in the same building in the new Lab gym. This new business ended up being ‘Well Liverpool’.

What is Well Liverpool’s ethos?

We like to have the idea of living well, training well, and being well. You need a balance in life and we try to nail that the best we can.

What’s the best bit of advice you could give to anyone looking at working in your line of work?

You obviously need some form of skill/product, but you also need to be authentic, get yourself out there as much as possible, and network with as many people as can. Be prepared to work absurd hours too, we worked everyday for over 3 months and have still only had 1 day off, but that was needed to get ourselves in to a position to be able to hire staff to help us out.

What do you love most about Liverpool?

Liverpool is so polarising, although it can be a place you can get the most hate from locals, the majority of locals want to support you anyway they can. It’s a very community driven place when people drop their egos and help each other. Its Also so up and coming more than ever with the amount of new businesses all over the place which is boss to see .

If you could describe your business in 3 words what would they be?

Authentic, approachable, innovative.
