The big screen is officially back outside the Lord Street Hotel, The Grand and Punch Tarmey’s on Lord Street in Southport, creating the ultimate Football Fan Zone in Southport!
The huge double-sided outdoor screen was a hugely popular fixture with sports fans when Euro 2024 took place in the summer of 2024.
After the huge success of the big screen during that tournament, when England reached the Final, Mikhail Hotel and Leisure Group has brought it back for this summer’s World Cup.
England’s opening World Cup victory against Croatia was shown live and their following group games against Ghana and Panama will be televised on the big screen.
Other World Cup fixtures will be shown, depending on kick-off times.
Games will also be screened on multiple screens inside the Lord Street Hotel and Maverick’s on Lord Street too, meaning there are lots of great spots to watch all the World Cup action.
Southport Hospitality Fan Zone

Mikhail Hotel And Leisure Group Cluster Manager James Bretnall-Bennet said:
“The atmosphere during Euro 2024 two years ago was amazing when games were screened here.
“We’ve had huge demand from customers to have our big screen back for the World Cup!
“We are really excited to be bringing it back.
“There is going to be a huge demand, so we’d advise people coming to arrive early and secure the best seats.
“We have created the ultimate Football Fan Zone in Southport with everything fans could want to watch England games and other matches on seating outside the Lord Street Hotel, The Grand and Punch Tarmey’s this summer.
“There is nowhere better to watch the action.
“ The Football Fan Zone will be very family-friendly with everything football fans could want!
“We will have an outdoor BBQ; an outdoor Peroni bar; an outdoor Campari and Aperol bar.
“There will be great deals on buckets of bottles and shots.
“We have unlimited supplies of ponchos in case of wet weather at any time, although the weather forecast over the next few days is looking very warm and dry.
“People can also watch matches indoors from the comfort of the Lord Street Hotel or Maverick’s.
“After the games, you’ll be able to continue your night out, hopefully celebrating England wins, inside the Lord Street Hotel, Punch Tarmey’s or Maverick’s, which will all be open until late!”
The outdoor layout along the Lord Street terrace creates a central hub for the local community to gather and experience the tournament together.
By combining outdoor food and drink stations with large-scale viewing areas, the multi-venue setup offers an engaging festival atmosphere right in the town centre.
The addition of sheltered indoor screens ensures that the event remains fully operational and comfortable for families and fans regardless of changing weather conditions.
Tournament Predictions and Matchday Entertainment

James has also revealed his own prediction for England at this World Cup.
He said:
“I think England will win the World Cup this year!
“We have a great manager and such a strong squad.
“We are running a World Cup sweepstake at work and I’ve pulled out England so I hope they win for that reason too!
“We’ve seen some really exciting games already, it’s going to be a brilliant World Cup tournament.”
The transition from daytime terrace viewing to late-night indoor entertainment also helps sustain the lively matchday spirit long after the final whistle blows.
With a busy schedule of games ahead, you can make the fan zone a key destination when looking to follow the journey through the group stages and into the knockouts.
