June will see shields and swords clash at Claremont Farm, when brand new Wirral Viking Festival heads to the city!
Celebrating Wirral’s rich heritage and Viking History, the event will take place on 27th & 28th June. The festival see Claremont Farm join forces with Wirral Archaeology, Wirhalh Skip Felagr and the Vikings to bring a truly festival to Wirral!
Get a real flavour of day-to-day life in a Viking encampment when Northern England was ruled by Norsemen of Viking descent.
The brutal Battle of Brunanburh in 937 defined the country we know today as England. Recent significant finds by Wirral Archaeology point to Wirral as the location for this monumental moment in England’s history. The beautiful surroundings of Claremont Farm provide the backdrop for a stunning re-enactment of the battle: a dramatic clash of shield and sword, of Viking and Saxon Warriors.
A special Saturday evening performance is dedicated to the tradition of Viking Boat Burning. Taking place at dusk, this superb spectacle will induce goose-bumps and leave the awestruck audience with an unforgettable impression.
In the week leading up to the festival, there will be incredible educational opportunities at Claremont Farm for schools and community groups to learn first-hand about the Battle of Brunanburh.
Early Bird tickets for Wirral Viking Festival 2020 are available until 31st March from www.ticketquarter.co.uk
