Are you a lover of all things antique and vintage? Liverpool is a modern city with a long heritage that keeps one foot firmly in the past. There is no place better to go bargain-hunting for all things retro and classic.

We have compiled this guide to the best vintage shops in Liverpool to help you find what you want, whether a striking old-fashioned bag from the 60s or a 1920s dress.

Penny Lane Emporium

The Substation, Smithdown Rd, Wavertree, L15 5AF

Vintage Shops in Liverpool you can explore

First on our Liverpool vintage shops list is the Emporium, which can be found off the famous Penny Lane. It doesn’t matter what era you prefer; you will find something special here. The layout is simple and easy to navigate. It offers a wide selection of classic and traditional homeware items to stand out pieces of furniture that you will not want to leave around.

If you are looking for vintage vinyl or clothing, you will find those among chic bags and much more.

Mooshy LaLa’s Attique

322 Smithdown Road Near Penny Lane, L15 5AJ

Just a short bus ride from Liverpool city centre and a few minutes from the iconic Penny Lane, this is the place to go if you want vintage statement brooches or bohemian rings or are interested in sophisticated, classic pearl necklaces.

In addition to the accessories, there are also stunning clothes and jackets from the past and furniture that will make your home feel like a living, breathing look into the past.

Pop Boutique

110 Bold St, L1 4HY

Vintage Shops in Liverpool you can explore

Pop Boutique is next on our vintage shops in Liverpool list and is a long-running store that began life as a small independent in Greenwich and Camden markets. The items it sold then were handpicked pieces from flea markets and church sales. Now, it creates original clothing ranges inspired by retro cuts and styles.

You can find everything here, from those cute and trendy 60s dresses to sweatshirts that were big in the 90s.

Cow Vintage

15 Bold St, L1 4DN

After the success of its store in Manchester, Cow Vintage has its own Liverpool store on the lively Bold Street. There are two floors of eclectic collections to choose from.

You will find accessories and clothes for every occasion. Where else could you find reworked Ralph Lauren pieces and 1920s dresses?

69A

75 Renshaw St, L1 2SJ

69A is where you want to go if you are looking for standalone, unique pieces from a bygone era. Here, you will find the most high-end pieces that will elevate the décor in your home to decorative art, Victorian-era antiques and collectable vinyl records.

The staff here are warm and friendly and share the same passion for vintage as their clientele.

As modern as Liverpool is in many ways, it is not short of places to enjoy some retro retail therapy. Along with the vintage shops in Liverpool listed above, there is a diverse range of charity and second-hand shops and stalls in the city’s bustling marketplaces.

Filming for Netflix’s upcoming thriller The Woods has continued in Liverpool, with two of the show’s leading actors spotted in the city’s Georgian Quarter. Tom Bateman and Mandeep Dhillon were seen filming scenes outside Papillon and The Quarter on Tuesday 21 July, as production crews returned to Liverpool for the latest shoot. Explore Liverpool’s photographer captured a new collection of images from the set as filming took place around the corner of Hope Street and Falkner Street. Papillon is located on Hope Street, with its outdoor area wrapping around the corner onto Falkner Street, while neighbouring restaurant The Quarter sits just a short distance away. Bateman was once again seen in character as leading barrister Paul ‘Cope’ Copeland, alongside Mandeep Dhillon, who plays Loren Muse in the eight-part Netflix series. Details surrounding the scenes remain under wraps, but the latest photographs show the pair together outside the popular Georgian Quarter venues. The latest shoot gives viewers another glimpse behind the scenes as the production continues to use recognisable locations across Liverpool and the wider North West. Filming has previously taken place at St George’s Hall, where Bateman was photographed shooting scenes that appeared to show his character leaving court. The production has also used Hamilton Square in Birkenhead as one of its locations. What is Netflix’s The Woods about? Based on Harlan Coben’s 2007 novel, The Woods follows Paul ‘Cope’ Copeland, whose sister Camille disappeared from a summer camp 20 years earlier. Now a successful barrister and single father, Cope has attempted to rebuild his life following the tragedy. However, the discovery of the body of a man believed to have died alongside Camille leads him to question whether his sister may also have survived. His search for answers uncovers years of secrets, lies and cover-ups that threaten the life he has created. Mandeep Dhillon stars as Loren Muse, while Michelle Keegan plays Cope’s former love, Lucy Silverfield. The cast also includes Pearce Quigley, James Buckley, Tracy-Ann Oberman, Roger Barclay and Charlotte Beaumont. The limited series has been written by Danny Brocklehurst, whose previous Harlan Coben adaptations for Netflix include Fool Me Once, Stay Close and Run Away. Production is taking place in partnership with Manchester-based Quay Street Productions, with filming continuing at locations across the North West. Netflix has not yet confirmed a release date for The Woods.
