The twelve golfers to compete in the Last-Chance Qualifier at Royal Birkdale on Monday, 13 July, have been announced.
The final place in The 154th Open will be the prize on offer as players compete over 18 holes of stroke play starting at 7.30 am BST to determine the winner. In the event of a tie after 18 holes, a play-off will take place.
The push to secure the final place in The 154th Open at Royal Birkdale will see 12 players given the opportunity to compete in the Last-Chance Qualifier on Monday, 13 July.
The Last-Chance Qualifier has been introduced in a series of enhancements intended to elevate the experience of attending The Open by providing fans with drama and excitement as golfers compete to earn the last, coveted spot in golf’s original Championship at the start of the week.
The stroke play event, starting at 7:30 am on the Monday of Championship week, will be contested over 18 holes at Royal Birkdale, with golfers being invited to compete in the field based on eligibility criteria which are consistent with the existing qualification process for The Open.
Former Amateur Champion Aldrich Potgieter and YouTube star Wesley Bryan are among the players confirmed, with the full field now available.
The field will include the following golfers who have accepted invites to compete: Aldrich Potgieter, Matti Schmid, Matt Moloney (a), Joe Dean, Sam Easterbrook (a), Adri Arnaus, John Gough, Angel Hidalgo, Charles Huntzinger, Marcus Helligkilde, Andrew Wilson, and Wesley Bryan.
The field is subject to change between now and the Last-Chance Qualifier starting on Monday, 13 July. The draw for the Last-Chance Qualifier will be announced on Saturday, 11 July.
