The Beatles Story launches new ‘In My Life’ Memory Café at Liverpool’s Pier Head

The Beatles Story Museum, based at Royal Albert Dock, has announced the launch of its brand-new In My Life Memory Café, a welcoming new community space set to open at Liverpool’s iconic Pier Head.

Designed to support people living with dementia, alongside their carers, friends and loved ones, The In My Life Memory Café offers a friendly environment.

Visitors can connect, share experiences and re-ignite treasured memories through music whilst creative activities rooted in Liverpool’s rich cultural heritage.

The new initiative is inspired by research from music therapy charity Nordoff and Robbins, whose evaluations in 2023 and 2024 found that 87% of people living with dementia felt music therapy improved their quality of life.

The Beatles Story is now bringing these powerful findings into the heart of the city, using the universal language of music to nurture wellbeing and connection.

Through games, crafts and group activities, the café will transport visitors back to the sights and sounds of the 1960s.

Revisiting the era of the craziness of Beatlemania, the aim is to spark memories through shared storytelling and the classic tunes which are loved to this day, around the world.

Sessions will take place at the attraction’s award-winning Fab4 Café, located within the Gerry Marsden Ferry Terminal at Pier Head, on selected dates.

Pre-booking is not required, and entry costs just £1 per person, which includes refreshments such as tea, coffee and biscuits. All materials for activities and crafts are provided.

The launch forms part of The Beatles Story’s wider commitment to sustainability and community engagement.

In June 2025, the attraction was awarded a silver Green Tourism Award and is now progressing towards gold recognition, reflecting its ongoing efforts to deliver meaningful social impact alongside its visitor experience.

The In My Life Memory Café will combine the music that made people want to boogie alongside cherished memories in one of the city’s most iconic waterfront locations, making it a valuable addition to Liverpool’s dementia-friendly community.

In My Life Memory Café will run from 10:30am – 12:30pm on one Monday each month, starting Monday, 9th March. For full details, head to The Beatles Story website.

Care providers looking to bring a group of people to the event are encouraged to get in touch at enquiries@beatlesstory.com
