Strawberry Field announces Christmas programme of events

One of Liverpool’s most beloved visitor attractions, The Salvation Army’s Strawberry Field, today unveils its festive Christmas calendar packed with events, activities and inspiring gift ideas, running from November 23 to December 21.

As part of the Christmas celebrations, visitors will be invited to enjoy a whole programme of seasonal events including its highly anticipated ‘Celebrating Christmas with Strawberry Field and Friends Charity Concert’ at All Hallows Church. Taking place on November 30th, the concert will feature performances by Liverpool Walton Salvation Army Band, All Hallows Choir and special guest, Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalist, Charlie Green. BBC Radio Merseyside’s Paul Beesley will serve as the evening’s compère, with proceeds from the concert split between All Hallows Church in celebration of its 150th year, and Steps at Strawberry Field, a series of programmes designed to help young adults overcome barriers to employment.

Prior to its charity concert, they will also host its annual festive craft fair on November 23. The craft fair will showcase some of Liverpool’s finest local makers, offering unique gifts for families looking to fill their stockings. Recycles Merseyside, another Strawberry Field project, will be offering free bike checks, repairs and demonstrations, as well as selling refurbished bicycles, just in time for Christmas.

From December 6 to December 21, Strawberry Field will once again offer a delicious festive menu within its Imagine More Cafe. Guests can enjoy a traditional Christmas lunch while overlooking the beautiful views of the peaceful gardens.

For those looking for a unique Christmas gift, the attraction recently relaunched its iconic John Lennon photomosaic mural, presenting fans with the unique opportunity to become part of Beatles’ history this Christmas. Measuring 8 metres wide and 2.4 metres high, the floor to ceiling photomosaic is a striking feature for visitors to the exhibition and a lasting tribute to the legacy of John Lennon.

Anyone who wants to explore the visitor exhibition at Strawberry Field, telling the story of The Salvation Army, John Lennon’s childhood and the writing and recording of the iconic song ‘Strawberry Fields Forever’, can enjoy 20% off their ticket when booking online to visit during December.

Salvation Army Major Kathleen Versfeld, mission director at Strawberry Field, said:

“Here at The Salvation Army’s centre at Strawberry Field we believe Christmas ought to be a time to celebrate with loved ones the passing of another year, to enjoy fine food as we look back with gratitude, make new memories to savour in the years ahead, and bless those who give our lives meaning with the perfect gift. If we can do all of that whilst bringing hope to those whose lives are difficult and dark, then that is one Christmas miracle that we absolutely want to make a reality this year. Join us as we invite our supporters, visitors and members of the local community to celebrate the true spirit of Christmas, finding hope, joy, peace and love despite the challenges of everyday life. This year we are particularly excited to host a celebration of the true meaning of Christmas with music, readings and carols at the beautiful All Hallows Church in Allerton. For many, the sound of a Salvation Army brass band heralds the start of Christmas and we are delighted to invite people to join us at our charity concert.”
