Southport is set to sparkle brighter than ever this September as the British Musical Fireworks Championship returns to Victoria Park on the 27th and 28th. This year’s spectacle will feature a major new highlight: the town’s first-ever drone light show, delivered by leading UK drone entertainment specialists, DroneSwarm.
In a spectacular fusion of technology and art, hundreds of illuminated drones will take to the skies in a choreographed display of light, colour, and movement.
Known for show-stopping performances for the likes of Disney, BMW, ITV, and the RAF, DroneSwarm’s productions combine dynamic visuals, storytelling, and even pyrotechnics to create an immersive, next-level experience.
Mat Lawrence, Director at DroneSwarm said:
“With our roots firmly in the firework industry, we’re really excited to be providing Southport’s first ever drone light display at the British Musical Fireworks Championships, the audience are in for an amazing show.”
Cllr Paulette Lappin, Sefton Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Skills, said:
“The British Musical Fireworks Championship is always one of the highlights of Southport’s events calendar, drawing thousands of visitors and families from across the region. But this year it’s going to be something truly extraordinary.
“For the first time ever we’re combining incredible world-class pyrotechnics with a drone light display, a breathtaking combination of colour, sound, and cutting-edge technology.
“This new addition will take the event to an entirely new level and offer something genuinely unique for audiences of all ages.
“We’re proud to host such an innovative and exciting experience right here in Sefton, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone to what promises to be an unforgettable weekend.”
Behind the scenes, the scale is just as impressive: each show requires over 10 tonnes of fireworks, two tonnes of explosive material, five kilometres of wiring, and a team of 15 expert technicians to pull it all off.
Tickets are available in advance only—no tickets will be sold at the gate. Entry is £12 per person; children under 5 go free.
