Ryan Babel, Mark Gonzalez and Albert Riera are among eight more former Liverpool players confirmed for the upcoming LFC Legends charity clash at Anfield next month.
The Liverpool FC Legends will take on Borussia Dortmund Legends at 3 pm on Saturday, 28 March, with all proceeds supporting the work of the LFC Foundation.
Ryan Babel, Alberto Riera and Mark Gonzalez headline latest Legends additions
The defence is strengthened by the addition of Estonian Ragnar Klavan, who famously scored a last-minute winner back in 2018 against Burnley.
The midfield options have been boosted by Igor Biscan, who won a winners’ medal in the Champions League 2005 final.
Spaniard Mark Gonzalez and local lad Jay Spearing have also been added to the LFC legend squad.
Further forward, Ryan Babel, Albert Riera and Jermaine Pennant will provide attacking options for the Legends management team alongside Champions League winner Florent Sinama Pongolle.
Riera returns to Anfield after featuring in last season’s Legends fixture against Chelsea, while the other seven were part of the side that secured a 1 0 win at Stamford Bridge in October.
They join an already star-studded squad featuring Steven Gerrard, Thiago Alcantara, Sami Hyypiä and goalkeepers Jerzy Dudek, Pepe Reina and Sander Westerveld.
Jurgen Klopp and Kenny Dalglish to manage Liverpool Legends
The management team for this year’s charity match has also been announced.
Former Reds boss Jurgen Klopp, now honorary ambassador of the Foundation, will return to the Anfield dugout to assist manager Kenny Dalglish.
The legendary duo will be joined by official club ambassador and record goalscorer Ian Rush and Forever Reds Chair John Aldridge.
Once again, all proceeds from the fixture, supported by AXA and held in association with Forever Reds, will go directly towards the Foundation’s employability programmes.
These initiatives help people across the community find work, gain qualifications and develop new skills through mentoring and training.
The match will also contribute to the Foundation’s long-term ambition to support 500,000 people per season by 2030.
Tickets are priced at £29.50 for adults, £19.50 for concessions and £9.50 for juniors and are now on general sale.
Disabled supporters can visit the Accessibility Hub for full sale details.
Premium packages are available from £59.50, with hospitality from £189.
