The Municipal Hotel, a brand-new luxury hotel, restaurant, bar, and spa in the centre of Liverpool’s bustling commercial district, will open this spring.
The Municipal Liverpool hotel, which will open in May and become a part of the MGallery luxury boutique-hotel brand of the Accor Group, will be housed in a Grade II-listed heritage structure from the city’s bustling Dale Street and combine stylish, modern opulence with historic charm.
The iconic listed building will span four floors and include 179 luxurious rooms with thoughtful design references that honour the building’s rich heritage of French and Italian influences. It will be managed by renowned hotel management company RBH Hospitality.
At The Municipal Hotel – MGallery, design will play a leading role with many of the building’s existing materials and features being updated to create elegant new focal points. A number of 7-foot-tall statues on the façade, as well as vintage phones and library-style desks indoors, will serve as visual cues to the building’s former use as a council building. The building’s iconic clocktower, which is visible from all over the city and has been carefully restored to bring it back to full working order and catch the guests’ attention on time, is the hotel’s high point, reinventing a landmark of Liverpool’s heritage.
The hotel’s accommodations range from roomy doubles to impressive suites with views of the vibrant Liverpool cityscape. Warming palettes of earthy tones and opulent textures combine to create stunning havens in the middle of a bustling city. Timeless charm meets modern luxury in each space.In addition to luxurious King or Queen size beds and contemporary amenities like lavishly stocked minibars and bathroom products from luxury lifestyle brand, Culti, each of the rooms’ spaciousness and sophistication will feature.
The restaurant and bar spaces will retain the fun and energy for which this part of the city is so well known, while the bedrooms are designed with an emphasis on creating a sense of serenity and calm.With lavish all-day menus that place an emphasis on championing local makers and celebrating the spirit of Liverpool, guests will be welcomed from morning until the wee hours.
The hotel’s main gathering spot, the Palm Court bar and lounge, will feature a state-of-the-art bar that will take centre stage, as well as live music that is sure to dazzle guests. The space was designed to bring people together with its sleek design, specially curated artwork, and continental feel. The Botanic Tea Room will serve beautifully crafted drinks, pastries, and afternoon tea selections for visitors and guests throughout the day using herbs and plants from all over the world.
Other notable features include impressive wellness areas incorporating a swimming pool, sauna, steam room, fitness area, treatment rooms, Laconicum, salon, and spa, all filled with luxurious products from leading British skincare brand, Elemis, and premium beauty brand, Grown Alchemist. Guests will be truly spoilt for choice, with the hotel offering the ultimate relaxation experience to indulge in, allowing for a calming and peaceful retreat from everyday stresses.
The hotel will also benefit from six large, state of the art boardrooms, each available for hire and named after Liverpool’s iconic ‘quarters’ – Ropewalks, Baltic, Cavern, Waterfront and Georgian Quarter.

The Municipal Liverpool – MGallery will open on Dale Street, Liverpool, this May.
