Tesco Express will soon open at Metquarter in Liverpool, Queensberry’s has announced.
Another plus for the centre is the supermarket chain, which will create 20 new jobs by taking over the lower ground floor of the former BOSS unit at the Whitechapel entrance. This month will see the start of the 3,413 sqft area’s fit-out, with the store’s spring opening scheduled.
Metquarter is a dynamic mixed-use area that has evolved from a traditional shopping centre in recent years. Metquarter’s current blend of premium fashion retailers, creative arts, and entertainment will be enhanced by the new addition, providing convenience and synergy for all tenants and customers.
Carvela has also been welcomed to the centre by Metquarter. The ground floor Kurt Geiger store is being replaced by the upscale shoe and accessory brand, giving customers another upscale shopping option.
Alex Hyams, Senior Asset and Leasing Manager for Queensberry said:
“We are delighted to welcome Tesco to Metquarter bringing yet another use class into the diverse mix of occupiers we’ve curated during the scheme’s transformation. Since Queensberry bought the asset back in 2016, we have continued to successfully repurpose the building to include a state-of-the-art education campus with over 1400 students and multiple retail and leisure uses including Everyman Cinema and GPO food hall.”
A Tesco spokesperson said:
“We’re excited to be opening a new store in Liverpool and look forward to serving the local community in spring 2024.”
Tesco Express will be open daily from 7am – 11pm.
