Dance students from LMA Liverpool have progressed to the semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent following a striking ensemble broadcast on Saturday, 21 February.
The Liverpool-based performers, aged 19 to 24, delivered a tightly synchronised routine centred on unity, precision and shared storytelling, earning them a place in the next stage of the nationally televised competition.
Powerful ensemble piece earns national recognition
The choreography was created by internationally acclaimed artist Sadeck Berrabah, widely known for his “Murmuration” style.
The piece was deliberately structured without soloists, placing emphasis on collective movement and mirroring the collaborative demands of professional dance and screen performance.
Leading the audition was student Ruby-Leigh Wilson, supported by Charlie Newton, Michael Davies and Alexandra Lowe, who all contributed creatively while balancing intensive rehearsals alongside their undergraduate and postgraduate training.
The audition was filmed at Winter Gardens Blackpool, following weeks of preparation that began at LMA’s Liverpool campus before moving to on-site rehearsals in Blackpool.
The process required a high degree of focus, stamina and adaptability as students navigated academic commitments alongside large-scale production demands.
One dancer described the moment as pivotal:
“Hearing what the judges said about our performance made us want to push even harder.
“It reinforced why we’re doing this and reminded us that the training we’re receiving is preparing us for the industry we want to be part of.”
Another added:
“Moments like this make you realise how lucky we are.
“The level of training, the intensity of the process and the trust placed in us to deliver work at this scale has been incredible.”
Showcasing Liverpool talent on a national platform
The televised performance represents a major milestone for LMA Liverpool, highlighting the strength of the city’s creative training pathways on a prime-time stage.
Since the episode aired, the dancers have continued filming with the show in Liverpool, featuring iconic backdrops including the Royal Liver Building.
Kemal Kuguloglu, Head of Dance at LMA Liverpool, said:
“This opportunity has been a huge moment for our students.
“The level of professionalism, commitment and teamwork they’ve shown throughout this process has been outstanding.
“The piece was built around collaboration, which is such an important part of the industry, and the way the students delivered that on such a large stage is something we’re incredibly proud of.
“Experiences like this are exactly what prepares them for the realities of a career in dance.”
With a place now secured in the semi-finals, LMA Liverpool’s dancers move forward in the competition as one of the standout dance acts of the 2026 series.
