A new direct rail service linking Liverpool and Llandudno is set to launch in May 2026, making journeys between the North West and one of the most loved coastal towns in Wales smoother and far more appealing.
The long-awaited update will remove the need for passengers to change trains at Chester, creating a far more relaxed and hassle-free journey.
The service forms part of a wider timetable overhaul led by Transport for Wales, aimed at improving connections across the region.
Direct Liverpool to Llandudno train to remove Chester change
Right now, travelling between Liverpool and Llandudno often means hopping off at Chester and waiting for a connection.
From May 2026, that extra step will be removed, allowing passengers to sit back and enjoy a direct journey from start to finish.
Journey times are expected to remain around one hour and 45 minutes to two hours, but without the interruption of a change, the experience will feel noticeably easier.
With multiple services expected to run each day, the new route should also offer greater flexibility for both planned trips and spontaneous getaways.
