Liverpool to host first 24 Hour Run Against Homelessness for The Whitechapel Centre

Local runners, walkers and community groups are being encouraged to take part in Liverpool’s first ever 24 Hour Run Against Homelessness, raising vital funds for The Whitechapel Centre.

Taking place from Saturday 17 October to Sunday 18 October 2026, the continuous 24-hour relay will see people complete laps throughout the day and night to raise awareness and support for those experiencing homelessness across Liverpool.

The event will start and finish at Moose Coffee on William Jessop Way, with participants able to join at any point during the 24 hours and run or walk as many, or as few, laps as they like.

There is no registration fee, making the challenge open and accessible to runners, walkers and supporters of all ages and abilities.

Organisers are aiming to raise £5,000 for The Whitechapel Centre, Liverpool’s leading homelessness charity.

Open every day of the year, The Whitechapel Centre supports people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness through outreach services, housing advice, health and wellbeing support and projects designed to help people develop the skills they need to live independently.

Every £30 raised can help provide a warm bed and wraparound support for someone facing homelessness, meaning every lap completed during the event can help make a difference.

Whether you’re an experienced runner looking for a new challenge, a casual jogger, part of a workplace or community team, or simply want to support a good cause, organisers are encouraging people from across Liverpool to get involved.

The 24 Hour Run Against Homelessness began as a student event in Manchester in 2019 and has since expanded across the UK.

Events are also taking place this year in Birmingham, Manchester and Hereford, with more than £190,000 raised for homelessness charities across all events since the initiative began.

Liverpool’s event will begin at 12pm on Saturday 17 October and continue until 12pm on Sunday 18 October.

Participation is free, with optional donations and sponsorship encouraged.

Anyone interested in taking part can register via the website.
