Liverpool’s city centre is set to come alive this August with three vibrant events showcasing the very best of the city’s culture, food, music, and street entertainment.
Organised by Liverpool BID Company, the events returning in August are Celebrating Castle Street, Bold Street and The Last Day of Summer on the Waterfront.

Celebrating Castle Street
Sunday 3 August, 11am – 5pm
The historic Castle Street will transform into a lively cultural hub, with giant chess boards inspired by the British Chess Championships encouraging visitors to test their strategy skills inside the Town Hall. Expect face painting, stilt walkers, and three live music spots throughout the area, along with performances by Batala Mersey and all-day Silent Disco Tours. Local food and drink venues will be offering special deals, and a market at Exchange Flags curated by Liverpool Markets will feature artisan stalls and creative workshops.
Celebrating Bold Street
Sunday 17 August, 11am – 5pm
Bold Street will host a colourful celebration packed with entertainment, including a giant tortoise puppet, face painting, stilt walkers, and a tie-dye sock workshop. Music will take centre stage at the top of the street, with crowd favourites Albert Schloss brass band returning for standout performances. The Bombed Out Church will be home to a vibrant Makers Market, while businesses along the street will offer tastings, workshops, DJ sets and exclusive Celebrating Bold Street deals.
The Last Day of Summer
Saturday 30 August, 11am – 5pm
In partnership with Royal Albert Dock, this family-friendly wellness and activity day will mark the end of summer with a packed programme. Free yoga, Pilates, and sound bath sessions will take place at Princes Dock, alongside WeSwimRun and Wyld Sauna experiences. Live music and circus skills workshops will animate Pier Head, with canoe taster sessions from the Canal & River Trust and bike hire and maintenance sessions by Hype.
At Royal Albert Dock, families can get involved in back-to-school workshops like pencil case making, while the Anchor Courtyard will host dance demos from Sama Livre and Merseyswing. Expect lively walkabout performers including costumed sea creatures and an Elton John impersonator with a piano in tow. Highlights include a 9-hole crazy golf course, vintage fairground games like coconut shy, artisan markets, and more live music at Mann Island.

“We’re thrilled to be part of ‘Celebrating Castle Street’ with the launch of our newest venue, Black Cat Club, right in the heart of Exchange Flags, we’re excited to contribute to the energy! It’s the perfect way to introduce Black Cat Club to the city. Castle Street is one of Liverpool’s most iconic destinations, rich in history, culture, and incredible hospitality & we’re proud to add something fresh, fun, and energetic to the mix. Events like this are a great way to showcase the spirit of the street, bring people together, and support the brilliant local businesses that make this area so special.”
