Liverpool based singer-songwriter Katie Nicholas has always been known for her introspective music and captivating storytelling. But in 2024, she’s taken her craft to an entirely new level with the release of The Songwriter Diaries – an ambitious 50 part series where she unpacks the very essence of her creative process.

Covering seven themes, the collection explores the eras Katie has moved through as a young songwriter and begins with the first song she ever wrote at the age of 12 which was inspired by the Beatles classic Blackbird.

Over the 50 episodes, Katie invites her listeners to follow along on her songwriting journey – from her initial inspiration to the final notes of production. Each entry reveals a different stage of the process, offering a raw, unfiltered look at how a song comes to life.

As one of Liverpool’s most promising talents, Katie has been no stranger to the spotlight. Her soulful voice and insightful lyrics have gathered a devoted following over the years, and her previous music has showcased her amazing ability to weave complex emotions into simple, yet very powerful melodies. But the release of The Songwriter Diaries marks a turning point – both for Katie as an artist and for her relationship with her fans.

Each episode of the series is a snapshot of her evolution as a musician. Some entries delve into the technical aspects of songwriting, while others focus on Katie’s emotional journey behind the lyrics. There’s such a beautiful vulnerability in each episode as she explores the themes of love, loss, self-discovery and personal growth.

The Songwriter Diaries is, in many ways, a reflection of Liverpool’s artistic spirit, a city that thrives on collaboration, innovation and a deep sense of community that is unique. As Katie works through the parts of the series, she invites the listeners into her world, showing them the very heart of what it means to be a songwriter in today’s music industry.

With the release of the series, Katie is proving that songwriting is more than just a craft – it’s a journey of self-expression, discovery and transformation.

Katie Nicholas and Robert Vincent’s latest collaboration, You Kill Me, is a hauntingly beautiful blend of raw emotion and poignant storytelling. The track effortlessly weaves together with Katie’s soulful, ethereal vocals with Robert’s rich, gravelly voice, creating a compelling contrast.

The track explores themes of heartache, vulnerability and the complexity of love. The title of the song speaks to the feeling of being consumed by intense emotion, and both artists deliver their lines with a depth of feeling that resonates deeply. The chorus, with the aching repetition of “You Kill Me”, captures the weight of emotional turmoil, while the delicate arrangement of acoustic guitar allows the lyrics to take centre stage.

Their voices complement each other in a way that feels both natural and effortlessly intimate, with the blend of folk and Americana influences feeling timeless.

You Kill Me is a stunning showcase of Katie Nicholas and Robert Vincent’s talents as songwriters and performers. The track is a reflection on love’s power to both uplift and devastate.
