Artists across the UK are being invited to apply for the Liverpool Sculpture Prize, which has officially opened for its third year.
The winning artist will see their work exhibited in a prominent Liverpool city centre location for 12 months, alongside a £2,500 prize fee.

Created and managed by Liverpool Business Improvement District in partnership with Liverpool Parish Church, the Liverpool Sculpture Prize is open to any sculptor living and working in the UK.
The call for entries opens on Sunday 8 February and will remain open until 8 April 2026. A judging panel made up of representatives from the arts, business and creative communities will select the winning entry, which will be unveiled to the public in June 2026.
The selected artwork will be displayed at Liverpool Parish Church, either on the Chapel Street plinth or within the church gardens overlooking Liverpool’s iconic waterfront.
The Chapel Street plinth has previously hosted major works including Brian Burgess’s Christ on a Donkey as part of The Liverpool Plinth programme (2018–2023). The church gardens have also welcomed a number of striking installations, including works by Ranti Bam as part of Liverpool Biennial.
The 2025 Liverpool Sculpture Prize was awarded to Wirral-based artist Ben Stephenson for his cylindrical sculpture Laminae. Inspired by his travels in South America, the work was created using rammed earth, evoking a sense of mystery and interiority. Monumental yet deliberately impermanent, Laminae explored themes of time, erosion and regeneration.
Katie Bentley is Director of Strategic Partnerships and Communications at Liverpool Business Improvement District, said:
“Ben’s winning work last year is one of my favourite pieces of sculpture and it has given me a lift every time I walk past it. It goes to show the impact public art can have. It animates the public realm but it helps us to connect to our stories and shared past. We are looking for artwork that is thought provoking, animating and that will catch the eye of those who walk past. This is a high profile location with tourists, office workers, residents and visitors on its doorstep and we are excited to see the submissions we will receive”.
Applications are open now until 8 April, and details can be found here.
