Millions of passengers across the region have a new reason to make Liverpool their airport of choice following the release of the latest official aviation performance data.
Figures from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) show that in 2025, Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) achieved the best on-time performance record of any UK airport, with 81% of flights operating within 15 minutes of their scheduled departure time.
This 2025 figure represents a 5% improvement upon the airport’s 2024 performance and sits 8% higher than the average for UK airports.
The announcement comes at a perfect time as the airport prepares for its busiest weekend of the year so far, coinciding with the first Bank Holiday weekend of 2026 and the start of the summer season.
Mediterranean Sun and City Breaks Top Easter Demand
Over 70,000 passengers are expected to pass through the airport over the long Bank Holiday weekend as travellers from across the North West and North Wales jet off to a host of destinations.
With the weather at home continuing to disappoint, many are heading off in search of Mediterranean sunshine and city breaks.
Flights to Dublin, Alicante, Belfast, Malaga, Palma, Tenerife, Faro, Krakow, Arrecife, and Barcelona are expected to be the top 10 busiest from Liverpool this Easter.
As ever, with this being a particularly busy period, passengers are advised to arrive in plenty of time ahead of their departure.
Several local roadworks in the area may also impact travel times to the terminal, so early planning is encouraged for those heading to the airport.
Official Recognition for the Region’s Favourite Airport
The latest performance stats reinforce the airport’s reputation for efficiency and ease of use.
Robin Tudor, Head of PR for Liverpool John Lennon Airport, said:
“Liverpool is renowned as the region’s faster, easier, friendlier airport and it’s now official, we’re the UK’s most on-time airport too, which is another reason why millions of passengers from across the region now make Liverpool their airport of choice.
“As we move to our busier summer season, we look forward to welcoming thousands of passengers through the airport this Bank Holiday weekend, and in the coming weeks and months ahead.”
With more flights and a growing choice of destinations, Liverpool continues to establish itself as a reliable and high-performing hub for the region.
