The Lab Liverpool has already built a first-rate reputation in the city in the hands of Joe Neill and his experienced team.
And now this leading personal training, gym and fitness enterprise has been nominated in the National Fitness Awards 2022, recognising the team’s outstanding work.
The Lab Liverpool’s unique one-to-one training approach has proved to be hugely successful, intent on bettering lifestyles with personal goals, support and informed encouragement. Its industry-leading personal training and variety of fitness experiences are the brainchild of Joe, a former professional athlete.
Having relocated the business from Stanley Street to Dale Street in 2021, to a bigger and more impressive home with increased floor space and all-new equipment and facilities, Joe has also added to his team of expert trainers as well as including mentored memberships, access to premium services including personal fitness and nutrition support, as well as accessible group training memberships, too.
The National Fitness Awards 2022 take place this November in Leicester and are being hosted by Diane Youdale, who is well known in the industry as ‘Jet’ from TV show Gladiators. Covering a wide range of national and other categories, including Health Club of the Year, and the Community Involvement Award, The Lab Liverpool will be up against some strong competition in the North Gym of the Year category. The judges will not only be considering staff skills, standard of equipment on offer and range of facilities, but also what makes nominees unique in their category, with a strong focus on marketing, customer service levels, retention and innovation.

‘This is such an important award for Lab Liverpool to be considered for – as well as all of the areas already listed that we will be judged upon, the National Fitness Awards will also be looking at the drive, passion and commitment a facility like ours need not only to thrive as a business, but also to be an important part of the community we serve. As a team, we have shown over the last five years that we have all of those qualities, and we hope the Awards will give us a chance to shout about it!
As an independent gym, we have obviously had the whole lockdown period and its aftermath to navigate during those five years, as well as a site move in 2021, and I think as a team we have worked brilliantly to make The Lab Liverpool what it is today.
We are really honoured to have been nominated, and we also look forward to celebrating with leading lights from our industry at the ceremony itself. The Lab Liverpool is so much more to our clients than a fitness facility, although that of course is an important part of what we do. We are here to promote wellbeing, which is vital for our physical as well as our mental health, and feel we serve our community well in that regard. We also provide great career opportunities through our local recruitment drives. Our relocation in 2021 also allowed us to redevelop and regenerate our Dale Street home to The Lab Liverpool, which is such a vital part of our city’s heritage.
As a team the National Fitness Awards 2022 will also give us a chance to reflect on how far we have come, and where we are going to next: that very much mirrors what The Lab Liverpool is all about.’
