Live county cricket is coming to Southport, and you have a chance to experience it live in the flesh whilst a legend is in action.
Southport & Birkdale Sports Club will host Lancashire County Cricket Club vs Worcestershire County Cricket Club from 15 to 19 May 2026, bringing four days of first-class cricket to one of the most picturesque settings in the area.
Across the four days, the club will be set up to create a proper summer atmosphere, with a full bar running throughout and food available on site.
Attendees also have the option to upgrade to marquee hospitality for a more premium experience.
S&B Chairman David Salt said:
“This is not a stadium experience. It is closer, more relaxed, and far more enjoyable. You are right on the boundary.
“You can move around, meet people, grab a drink, get something to eat, and enjoy the cricket at your own pace. It is as much about the day out as it is about the game.”
A Rare Chance to See a Legend in Action

One of the most anticipated aspects of the fixture is the opportunity to see a true icon of the sport leading the Lancashire attack.
The intimate nature of the Southport ground offers a perspective that major international stadiums simply cannot match, providing fans with a unique proximity to one of the sport’s all-time greats.
David Salt said:
“One of the standout moments will be seeing James Anderson (Sir Jimmy) leading Lancashire.
“One of the greatest fast bowlers of all time, playing in a setting where you are just metres away from the action.
“You simply do not get that level of access at the big grounds.”
