Art, design and creative students from Knowsley are being encouraged to take part in a once-in-a-lifetime competition to design the official posters for the historic 2027 Grand Départs of the Tour de France and Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift.
The competition, which launches on Monday, 4 May 2026, offers talented young creatives the opportunity to have their work seen by millions worldwide as part of one of the biggest sporting events on the planet.
Open to students studying art, design, graphics, photography and other creative subjects, the initiative forms part of the Grand Départ GB’s JOY social impact programme and aims to inspire the next generation of artists and designers across the UK.
For students across Knowsley and the wider Liverpool City Region, the competition presents a unique opportunity to gain international recognition while celebrating a major sporting event that will put the region firmly in the global spotlight.
Tour de France Poster Competition Knowsley Students Can Enter
Students enrolled at further education colleges, sixth forms and universities within the designated host authority areas are eligible to enter the competition.
As one of the areas involved in hosting stages of the 2027 races, Knowsley residents studying at colleges and sixth forms across the Liverpool City Region can take part. University students are also eligible, provided they are studying within one of the host local authority areas.
The winning designs will become the official posters for the 2027 Tour de France and Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift. These posters will be used across promotional campaigns, digital advertising, printed materials and event branding, providing unprecedented exposure for the successful designers.
The UK staging of both the men’s and women’s Grand Départs in 2027 will mark a historic milestone, becoming the first time both races have started in the same country outside of France.
Liverpool City Region Students Offered Global Creative Opportunity
The Tour de France has a long tradition of unveiling a unique official poster each year during its prestigious route presentation in Paris. In 2027, Britain has been given the honour of producing the official artwork for both races, creating an extraordinary opportunity for emerging creative talent.
The competition will be judged by an expert panel led by award-winning artist Lucy Pittaway, she said:
“I’m absolutely delighted to be part of the judging panel.
“Cycling has long been a source of inspiration in my work, and art has a unique power to capture the emotion, movement and stories behind these iconic races.
“Supporting emerging talent as they interpret such a historic moment for cycling across England, Scotland and Wales is truly exciting, and I’m honoured to help celebrate creativity at this level.”
In addition to seeing their artwork used across the Grand Départs, the two winning designers will be invited to Paris in October 2026 for the official unveiling of their posters during the route presentation for the 2027 races.
They will also enjoy a hospitality experience at one of next year’s British stages.
The competition is open until 5 pm on Friday, 26 June 2026.
