Kirkby Gallery is inviting families, artists and creative minds to enjoy a packed programme of activities this summer, with a wide range of workshops, craft sessions and events taking place throughout the school holidays.
Whether visitors are looking to get creative with the children, develop new artistic skills or simply enjoy a day out, the gallery has something for all ages over the coming weeks.
Free Family Activities Throughout The Holidays
One of the highlights of the summer programme is the return of the popular Random Craft Club, which begins on 27 July.
Running every Monday to Friday from 11 am until 3 pm, along with Saturday mornings from 11 am until 12 pm, the free drop-in sessions will feature a variety of arts and crafts activities designed to keep children entertained throughout the holidays.
No booking is required, allowing families to simply call in and get involved.
The gallery is also continuing its popular Tuesday SEWcials across the summer months.
Taking place every Tuesday between 10.30 am and 12.30 pm, the relaxed sessions offer participants the opportunity to develop their sewing skills while enjoying complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits.
The sessions are free to attend, although booking is required by emailing galleries@knowsley.gov.uk.
Artist-Led Workshops And Flower Show Fun
Visitors will also have the chance to learn from exhibiting artist Julie Dodd during two free sculpture workshops taking place in August.
On Monday 3 August, participants will create coral-covered driftwood and stones while exploring a range of paper sculpting techniques. A second workshop on Thursday 6 August will focus on producing paper butterfly sculptures using recycled wood alongside paper sculpting methods.
Both workshops will run from 10.30am until 12.30pm and again from 1.30pm until 3.30pm. While attendance is free, places must be booked in advance.
Kirkby Gallery will also be taking part in this year’s Knowsley Flower Show on Saturday 2 August, where visitors can enjoy free creative activities inspired by the upcoming exhibition Stories of the Sea.
Curated by local young people, the exhibition brings a slice of the British seaside to Court Hey Park, with artists leading a range of hands-on activities throughout the day. Visitors will not need to book to take part.
Looking beyond the summer holidays, the gallery has also confirmed an expanded programme of activities for the autumn. Its popular Summer Arts sessions for adults will increase to run across Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from September, while the much-loved Little BIG Art Club for young artists aged seven to 12 will also return.
With a mix of family-friendly crafts, artist-led workshops and community activities, Kirkby Gallery is once again offering an accessible programme designed to inspire creativity throughout the summer.
