Two of British boxing’s greatest icons are preparing to step into the spotlight together on Merseyside this summer.
Joe Calzaghe and Scouse boxing favourite Tony Bellew will go head-to-head at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday, 18 July 2026 for a live, unscripted show.
Stadium settings have defined the most memorable nights for both competitors.
Calzaghe famously defended his unified world super-middleweight championship in front of a massive home crowd at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, while Liverpool’s own Bellew secured his dream world cruiserweight title during an iconic open-air night at Goodison Park.
Now, the two former champions will take centre stage at the new waterfront venue for An Evening with Bellew and Calzaghe, which starts at 8pm BST.
Hosted inside The Yard at Everton’s home ground, the event will see the sporting legends share the internal stories behind their world titles, fierce rivalries, and the defining moments that shaped their respective careers.
Unbeaten Legacies and Goodison Park Glory Recalled on Merseyside
Joe “the Pride of Wales” Calzaghe established an incredible legacy in the ring, becoming the first boxer to unify three of the four major world titles at super-middleweight.
He subsequently stepped up to the light-heavyweight division and achieved the exceptionally rare sporting feat of retiring with a completely unbeaten professional record.
Over his career, Calzaghe shared the ring with elite global stars including Roy Jones Jnr, Bernard Hopkins, and Chris Eubank.
Tony Bellew mirrored that multi-weight success by moving up from light-heavyweight to capture the WBC cruiserweight championship of the world during a famous night under the lights at Goodison Park.
He then stepped up to the heavyweight division to secure back-to-back victories against David Haye, before finishing his professional career in a dramatic undisputed title showdown against pound-for-pound great Oleksandr Usyk.
