Grant applications launched by Liverpool ONE Foundation for wellbeing charities

Merseyside-based charities are being called on by the Liverpool ONE Foundation to apply for support, as it launches its next round of funding applications.

Administered by the Community Foundation for Merseyside (CFM), the charity invests in community projects that promote positive mental health and wellbeing among the city’s young people.

Since its launch in 2009, it has donated more than £2.5m to community projects, £280,000 of which was given out during the last year alone.

With a primary focus of improving young people’s wellbeing, as well as raising awareness of mental health issues, the Liverpool ONE Foundation supports organisations across the Liverpool City Region, including Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens and Wirral.

Now, grants of up to £15,000 per year for two years are on offer to support core service and project delivery.

To be eligible, organisations should have an annual income of less than £500,000 and should be a local grassroots group.

Donna Howitt, Place Strategy Director at Liverpool ONE, said:

“The pandemic has had a significant impact on many people’s mental health, but young people in particular have been hugely affected.

“Even as we return to normal, it is clear that the effects of the last 18 months could be long-lasting for some people and it’s essential that the right level of help and support is easily accessible.

“This year’s round of applications is therefore extremely important – and needed – if we are to improve local people’s wellbeing. The organisations we work with do some fantastic work, but they need the funding to be able to carry on and that’s where the Liverpool ONE Foundation comes in – we are passionate about championing these grassroots projects to make a real difference.”

Applications will be open from Monday 1st November, with priority given to organisations which have a core purpose and primary charitable objectives related to children and young people’s mental health.

Donna added:

“We would encourage schemes that are well established in their communities to apply, as well as those that are fairly new but bring a much-needed offering to their area of work.

“We’re really looking forward to getting to know new applicants and can’t wait to meet with local organisations who are on the front line of supporting young people’s mental health.”
