Faces of Liverpool - Danielle White

What do you love about Liverpool?

The variety of culture, people, voices and walks of life. Everyone and every place has a story and I feel like Liverpool tells those stories beautifully through food, fashion, art, music & being. Someone once said everyone in Liverpool has their own sense of style, wears their best clothes just to pop to the shops, and I think that’s very true!

Name one main thing about living in Liverpool that makes you proud?

People in this city aren’t afraid to stand up for what they believe in. Especially during this scary and strange time, Liverpool isn’t afraid to speak out against the shocking social injustices and oppression that is still happening today. It’s like no matter what, the city refuses to be held down and I think that’s reflected in the people who live here.

If you could describe Liverpool in 3 words what would they be?

Resilient, fashionable and kind.

Name one place in Liverpool that holds a special place in your heart?

It’s really hard to choose just one but The Albert Dock is somewhere I’ve been going since I was a child and grown up with it’s development and change. As a kid I used to think that whales swam in the Mersey and came to the Albert Dock to sleep! From hanging out at the pier as an emo teen, to thinking Revolution at the docks was the height of class on a night out, I just love it so much and always love strolling around it on a windy day.

Is there anything on your ‘Bucket List’ to do in Liverpool that your still yet to achieve?

Go to the top of the Liver Buildings should be one but since Batman has beat me to it, I’d say taking stand-up paddle boarding lessons with Liverpool SUPCO down the Liverpool/Leeds Canal! Stopping off at the Lock and Quay for a pint at the end too.

Do you have any tales of Liverpool or claim to fame while in the city?

Perez Hilton threw a party before the MTV EMAs in 2008 at the Carling Academy (back when it was that), and I went and met The Killers! I also missed Kanye West pop onstage with Estelle to sing American Boy but I got to ask Brandon Flowers who “Uncle Johnny” is! (He said it was his mum’s brother).
