One of New York City’s most famous landmarks was transformed into a striking tribute to Liverpool FC as the Empire State Building lit up red above the Manhattan skyline.
The top of the iconic skyscraper was illuminated in Liverpool colours on Tuesday evening, marking the launch of the Reds’ new adidas away kit for the 2026-27 season.

The special display followed the official unveiling of the new strip at an event in Brooklyn earlier in the day, bringing a touch of Anfield to the heart of New York during Liverpool’s pre-season tour of the United States.
Liverpool legends Ian Rush and Robbie Fowler helped reveal the away kit at the waterfront launch, which featured views across the Manhattan skyline and combined elements of the club’s history with influences from New York.
Inspired by Liverpool’s away shirts from the mid-1980s, the new jersey features a clean white base with red and grey detailing. The heritage Liver bird crest appears alongside the adidas Trefoil logo, while a pattern woven into the material takes inspiration from historic Anfield match tickets.
The shirt is completed by red shorts and white socks, with Liverpool’s players set to wear the full kit on the pitch for the first time during their pre-season friendly against Wrexham.
The Reds face the Welsh side at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday, July 29, with the game kicking off at 7.30pm in New York and 12.30am BST on Thursday morning. It will be Liverpool’s second match of their three-game American tour.
Liverpool began the tour against Sunderland in Nashville and will travel to Chicago following the Wrexham fixture to face Leeds United at Soldier Field on Sunday, August 2.
The Empire State Building display provided a memorable backdrop to the kit launch and highlighted Liverpool FC’s strong following in the United States, with the club’s famous red colours shining out across New York City.
The new Liverpool FC adidas away kit is available now through the club’s official online store, app and LFC stores in the UK and internationally.
