A contestant from series 8 of the Channel 4 hit show The Great Pottery Throw Down has opened a second site for her business, Clay Workshop, just five months after opening her first studio in Liverpool City Centre.
Olivia Rowan, 27, from Mossley Hill, took part in the reality TV competition, which aired in January 2025, before launching Clay Workshop with her partner James Pryce, turning her passion for ceramics into a thriving, fast-expanding business that enables people to discover the joy of pottery in an inclusive setting.
The pair opened their first site at 24 Arrad Street, off Hope Street, in February 2025 and have quickly expanded into a new studio behind the city’s iconic Bombed Out Church at 59A Roscoe Street, which opened to the public earlier this month and will formally launch on 26th July, with an afternoon of taster sessions and drop-in activities for all ages.
Olivia, who studied ceramics at Central Saint Martins in London and previously taught art at the City of Liverpool College, says she started the business to make pottery more accessible for people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities, from beginners to seasoned makers.

“We’ve been overwhelmed by the response from the community,” said Olivia, co-founder and creative director of Clay Workshop.
“When we opened our first site earlier this year, we wanted it to feel like a place where anyone could walk in, get their hands dirty, and discover the magic of working with clay. Seeing that dream take root so quickly has been incredible, and we’re beyond excited to open our second space.
“From day one, we saw how powerful this kind of creative space could be. Opening a second studio gives us the chance to welcome more people, offer more sessions, and continue building a community around pottery in the heart of the city.”
The new Roscoe Street studio will offer a wide range of sessions, including family-friendly classes, kids’ clubs, courses in throwing and pottery, and private events and corporate team-building experiences.
The existing space at 24 Arrad Street will become a members-only workshop, offering 24/7 access, personal storage, all tools and firings, discounts on classes, and the opportunity to sell and exhibit work through the studio.
Clay Workshop will be hosting a launch event for the Roscoe Street studio on Saturday 26th July, with an afternoon of taster sessions and drop-in activities from 12pm.
