Liverpool BID encourages support for local businesses on Small Business Saturday this December

Now in its 11th year, Small Business Saturday UK takes place on Saturday 2nd December with the event encouraging consumers to ‘shop local’ and support businesses in their communities.

To help celebrate and showcase small businesses across Liverpool city centre, Liverpool BID Company are calling on people to support small businesses ranging from retailers, venues, shops, eateries and more.

Liverpool BID offers business support to many independent businesses across Liverpool’s High Street, Castle Street, Bold Street, Hardman and Hope Streets, along with the waterfront and Commercial district. As well as supporting businesses, Liverpool BID Company provide over 75% of Liverpool city centre’s Christmas lights.

Looking for ways you can support? Shop local this Christmas and support Liverpool’s small and independent businesses. Whether it’s by popping to your local store for your fruit and veg for your Christmas table, treating your loved ones to some special gifts, or enjoying a festive spirit or two at your local, Liverpool is the perfect place to be.

This weekend you can also visit three Small Business Saturday markets as another way to support small and upcoming local businesses.

The markets will be;

  • The Art Quarter Market at Metquarter on Saturday 2nd December, 11am – 5pm
  • The Bloom Winter Market at Mann Island on Saturday 2nd December, 11am – 4pm
  • The Royal Liver Building Market on Monday 4th December, 11am – 3pm

Where you can support local makers and buy gifts like candles, local honey, artwork, sweet treats and jewellery.

If you’re planning on starting you’re Christmas shopping early, locations such as Metquarter and St Johns Shopping Centre cater for all your gift ideas, from clothing, perfume to jewellery.

Shoppers can use the hashtag #SmallBusinessSaturday by posting on Twitter and Instagram to show their support. Support can also be shown by leaving reviews online for local businesses.
