The One O’Clock Gun, a classic ‘New York Pub’ style bar, specialises in cocktails, beers, wines on tap, live music and hearty, comforting food.
Following a successful summer opening, the new dockside favourite have added some serious comfort food to their menu.
Highlights from the sandwich section include a Beef Patty Melt, juicy beef patty with melted emmental and cheddar, burger sauce and sharp, sweet pickles, and a classic yet knockout Fish Finger Sandwich; soft flaky fish goujon with homemade tartare sauce and mushy peas on a soft brioche bun.
Director Tom White said of the updated menu:
“After a few months of being open down on the Docks we are excited to launch our new updated food and drink offering at The Gun. The food menu has a big focus on simple, delicious and comforting bar food, hearty meals to fill you up alongside snacks and bites perfect with a beer or a cocktail. We are still serving two pies from our friends at Great North Pie Co, braised Swaledale Beef and classic Lancashire Cheese & Onion, because who doesn’t love a pie in winter and we think we’d be in bother with our regulars if we took them away!”
Elsewhere on the menu you’ll find a mountain of nachos complete with gooey nacho cheese sauce, and a selection of loaded chips topped with your choice of either fried chicken, pulled spiced lamb or bang bang cauliflower. The kind of pub food we all remember, done with care and attention.
Finally – and in the running to be instagram’s newest darling; a Banana Bread and Butter Pudding with caramel and ice cream.
Notable mentions from the new drinks list include a very 2021 reimagining of the White Russian, utilising everyone’s favourite caramelised biscuit – Biscoff, with coffee liqueur and cream. It’s joined by a potent Rum Punch topped with cream soda, and a Blackcurrant Margarita shaken up with agave and fresh lime. These house drinks appear alongside some stone cold classics including a Manhattan, Sidecar, Old Fashioned and a Clover Club.
