Creative studio Dorothy, based in Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle, has launched its own ‘Alternative World Cups’ tournament and exhibition to coincide with FIFA’s World Cup 2026 competition.
From seeding and cup draws to knockout rounds, Dorothy has playfully combined football fandom and cup kitsch to create a tournament with a twist.
The tournament features 48 novelty cups in different forms from countries around the globe.
The World Cups exhibition takes an interactive approach by allowing the public to participate in a tournament by voting for their favourite cups, which go head-to-head in daily matches.
The public are being asked to vote to keep their favourite cup in the tournament via Dorothy’s social media channels, utilising their official handles on Instagram and X.
On the 20th of July, after the group stages and knockout rounds have finished, the two remaining teams will go head-to-head in the final to crown the triumphant winner.
Alongside the social media-led tournament, the studio has also created a new commemorative special edition world cups print that celebrates the contenders participating in Dorothy’s Alternative World Cups Tournament 2026.
Where To Vote Online and Buy the Commemorative Print

Supporters can track the daily progress of the novelty contenders and cast their votes by checking the interactive stories posted directly on Instagram and X.
For those looking to secure a permanent souvenir of the quirky 2026 World Cup, the artwork is available to purchase now through the official website here.
