Liverpool is forever known as the home town of some musical greats and raw talent, one singing sensation to keep your eyes peeled for in particular is Southport’s own Astrid Smith.
At the tender age of just 9 years old, the St Mark’s primary school pupil rightfully owns them stars in her eyes for her vocal talent has been spotted by some of the industry’s finest. Gaining a spot on Will.I.am’s team on The Voice Kids UK this year beating more than 10,000 other youngsters, she is currently the youngest Jazz and Blues singer in the UK.
Shot into the spotlight, Astrid has now been giving the opportunity to support Alexander O’Neil at the Eventim Olympia on 8th December. Her busy schedule has seen her support Daniel O’Donnell at the Philharmonic and she is also set to support George Gallagher (winner of BBC1 Frank Sinatra: Our Way in 2015) at Grand Central Hall on 9th November and New Year’s Eve.
The fairy-tale story does not end there, Astrid has her first EP out entitled This Is Me, which has airplay on Radio Merseyside, Sandgrounder radio and Might FM. The achievements this little superstar has accomplished so far at such a young age, others can only dream of in a lifetime. Not fazed by the hard work, Astrid feels so excited to be given these opportunities to get her voice heard whilst also learning from these amazing artists.
Performing alongside American born Alexander O’Neil whom has created a cult appreciation worldwide, this schoolgirl is truly living the dream and much more.
